چکیده
Research show that teacher’s nonverbal immediacy can have a positive impact on student’s cognitive learning and affect [31]. This paper investigates the effectiveness of nonverbal immediacy using a virtual human. The virtual human attempts to use immediacy feedback to create rapport with the learner. Results show that the virtual human established rapport with learners but did not help them achieve better learning results. The results also suggest that creating rapport is related to higher self-efficacy, and self-efficacy is related to better learning results.

Towards a Computational Architecture of Dyadic Rapport Management for Virtual Agents
Rapport has been identified as an important factor in human task performance. Motivated by the proliferation of virtual agents that assist humans on various tasks, we propose a computational architecture for virtual agents, building on our own work on a dyadic model of rapport between humans and virtual agents. We show how such a system can be trained in order to build, maintain and destroy rap...

متن کاملTowards a Dyadic Computational Model of Rapport Management for Human-Virtual Agent Interaction
Rapport has been identified as an important function of human interaction, but to our knowledge no model exists of building and maintaining rapport between humans and conversational agents over the long-term that operates at the level of the dyad. In this paper we leverage existing literature and a corpus of peer tutoring data to develop a framework able to explain how humans in dyadic interact...
